Dual Effect has announced it's developing a sequel to survival horror game Tormented Souls, slated to release on PS5 in 2024. Tormented Souls 2 brings back main character Caroline Walker to "stalk the halls of haunting monasteries and other nightmarish locations. Brace yourself to confront terrifying creatures armed only with makeshift weapons as you desperately try to rescue your cursed sister." Check out the reveal trailer above.
The sequel is set in a monastery located in a remote South American community named Puerto Miller. It once again brings back classic survival horror gameplay with puzzles and intense battles. "In a world where every shadow could conceal a unspeakable horror, you’ll need to pick your battles and carefully manage your scarce resources in order to survive," a press release says.
2021's PS5, PS4 game Tormented Souls was considered a hit amongst survival horror fans, so a second crack at the formula from Dual Effect should result in an even better game. What are your first impressions? Share them in the comments below.

Hell YUS, I played the first one and while it was pretty janky it had a fantastic OST and had the great feeling of a classic survival horror game
I dropped out of the first one, it felt too janky and unpolished. It was a god send though not having to deal with loading doors like in the older traditional RE games(But we already knew what that was like anyways with RE4 on gamecube) and the 60fps was refreshing Vs being accustomed to old school RE's 30fps throughout the years.

Cool to see the first one was well-received… I fired up the demo and like 2 minutes in I saw a girl in a bathtub with cringey boobs that looked like they were designed by a 5 year old and were clearly meant to be attention-getting. Like it just seemed unnecessary and stupid.

Unexpected but great news. It's one of the only survival-horror games with that classic 90s'- early 2000's feel that I can remember, especially in modern times.
I like what Capcom has done to Resident Evil, both with the newer games and the remakes, but at the same time it's a shame we don't get this classic style from them anymore. Or Konami, but that's a whole different story.
Shout out to the Dual Effect team! Good for them that they are getting a chance to make a second game. Still have to play the first game myself but for sure plan to down the road on PS5. <3

The first one wasn't especially good, but I played it with some friends who like PS2-era horror games and we had a great time! Clunky controls, weird body-horror enemies, a plot that didn't make a great deal of sense; all that sounds terrible on paper but it adds up to an enjoyable experience if it's something you've been missing lately.
