Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon PS5 PlayStation 5 PS4 1

It’s hard to believe that Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is poised to be one of the biggest games of the year. That’s because we’ve lived through and reported on several Armored Core launches in the past, and never has the niche mech combat property attracted attention quite like this. It makes sense, of course: FromSoftware’s stock has been steadily on the rise with Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, and utterly exploded with the mainstream success of Elden Ring.

Bandai Namco believes the developer’s enormous popularity will have an impact on sales of its newest game, and while it’s still being realistic with expectations – it doesn’t anticipate another Elden Ring-level success – it does believe this will comfortably be the best-selling title in the series. Looking purely at engagement with the release here on Push Square, it’s hard to disagree.

“This is an opportunity for us to truly widen the audience of the Armored Core games,” Bandai Namco Europe’s CEO Arnaud Muller revealed. “We are not going to be able to match Elden Ring numbers but we will way surpass what Armored Core previous games have done. We have a great game in our hands; the gameplay, the battle system is very loyal to what FromSoftware fans are used to, so we really want to take this IP further in the relationship with FromSoftware.”

Speaking of which, there’s a good chance if you’re picking up Armored Core 6 today – or in the near future – this will be your first foray into the franchise, and we have a full Armored Core 6 guide to help get you started. Make sure you take advantage of it, as there’s a lot of tips and tricks in there which will help you make the most of the game.
